We are currently seeking volunteers for the following roles:

Admin Support Volunteer

At Carers Manchester we support Manchester’s unpaid carers through our network of partner organisations and our Contact Point helpline.  We are looking for volunteers to support us with online admin duties, completing referral forms and short applications for emergency grants. This administrative support ensures the smooth running of our carers support services.

Admin roles at our city centre office may include:

  • Completing referral forms to the Council.
  • Completing referral forms to other carer charities.
  • Completing short forms for grants.
  • Creating factsheets of available services for carers living in Manchester to be included on our website.
  • Providing admin support for Carers Manchester projects such as Concerts for Carers
  • Support processing applications for Carers Identification Cards and preparing packs
  • General admin support

Contact Point admin duties are carried out throughout the week. The Carers Manchester team work in a hybrid manner. This means we meet regularly at our city centre office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10am – 3pm.

It would be fantastic if you are able to join us at the office for one admin volunteering shift each month. If you feel this is the right volunteering role for you, we can work flexibly and arrange to meet you at the office Monday to Friday between 10am and 3pm.

Carers Card Volunteer

At Carers Manchester we provide unpaid carers with a card that makes it easier and quicker to show they are a carer. This card can also include an additional contact to be called to ensure the person who is cared for will be looked after in case of an emergency. In fact, we have distributed over 500 carers cards for unpaid carers living in Manchester!

We are looking for people to support us with printing, packing and posting these cards and other relevant information and advice to carers living across the city.

This is a hands-on role at our city centre office and includes:

  • Attending carers card packing sessions.
  • Working with the Carers Manchester Team and other volunteers to print, pack and post cards to carers on our waiting list.
  • Making sure each pack has leaflets about our services to ensure carers are aware they can reach out to us if they need some additional support.
  • Posting carers card packs at the end of each shift.

You may also like to support us with data processing for the card, and this would include:

  • Using mail merge to create and print address labels for information packs.
  • Adding requests for carers card to our database.
  • Tidying up the carers card database.
  • Importing data to our card printer.

Carers Card packing sessions take place at our city centre office on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday each week. Sessions take place between 10am – 3pm. It would be fantastic if you are able to come to at least one 2-hour packing session each month to support our work.
