A carer is someone of any age who supports, unwaged, a relative, partner or friend.
The person they care for may need help due to physical or mental illness, disability, frailty or addiction and could not manage without that support.
A carer does not always live with the person they care for, or care for them full time.
You might not think of yourself as a carer, but just as someone’s partner, parent, son, daughter or friend. Recognising that you might be a carer means that you can access support, advice and guidance relevant to your situation.
As a carer you are not alone, there are an estimated 65,000 carers in Manchester and we are here to help you find the right support at the right time.
We are here as the first point of contact, any questions you have no matter how big or small, are just a phone call or email away.
Call us on 0161 543 8000 (Monday – Friday 10am – 4pm except bank holidays) or email us at contactpoint@carersmanchester.org.uk.
“Thank you so much for your advice and support. It has been invaluable”, Carer
“I hate forms. I feel sure I’m going to do it wrong and so fail. But my support worker at the Contact Point filled in the application for me like it was an ordinary thing to do…”, Carer
“I tried but could not find a befriending service – until I mentioned it to my support worker at the Contact Point. Now Tim is getting assessed for a service and we could not be happier about it”, Carer
