The Carers Manchester Network brings together voluntary sector organisations which provide support and improve services for carers. Network members also support each other by sharing information, resources and skills. Today, we’re thrilled to announce a new organisation has joined our Network. Introducing… Create!

Who are Create?
Create is the UK’s leading charity empowering lives, reducing isolation and enhancing wellbeing through the creative arts. Its professional artists run creative arts projects with children and adults facing challenges in their lives.
creative:voices is Create’s award-winning programme for carers. Past projects have involved dance, drama, music, painting, and a host of other artforms. Sessions give carers the chance to express themselves, develop new skills and interests, and meet other people, enhancing wellbeing.
Recent Create projects
Create has already worked with Carers Manchester in the past. For example, in the lead-up to Carers Week 2024, it ran a series of poetry workshops for carers from across the city. Last October, the charity ran a pottery project for carers in the South.

Create is currently delivering a six-week printmaking project led by professional artist Sarah Grant with carers who attend the African Caribbean Care Group on Wednesday mornings. The project is inspiring the carers, with some beautiful artwork being created!
From 1-7 July Create will be hosting Create Week, a celebration of creativity and its importance for the wellbeing of everyone. Create Week is all about mass participation in creativity, whether you’re a professional or amateur artist, and there are lots of different ways to get involved. We know that some carers don’t often get to leave the house due to their round-the-clock caring responsibilities. Create Week is a great opportunity to take a few moments for yourself and get creative at home. All activities are free.
Create joins the Carers Manchester Network
In Create’s expression of interest to join the Carers Manchester Network, Hannah Clayden (Lead Senior Project Manager) wrote:
“We currently work with a number of carer organisations across Manchester and would love the chance to meet regularly with other organisations doing the same to learn, share ideas and develop best practice.”
We’re thrilled to welcome Create into our Network. The charity provides carers with a valuable creative outlet and a chance to take time for themselves amid their busy lives.
As our Network and Engagement Co-ordinator, Emma Koivunen says,
“Our team have attended events where Create’s artists have run activities for carers in Manchester. These have always been moving and exciting. With Create joining the Network, there will be more opportunities for carers to benefit from creative activities.”
