DESCRIPTION:Text from organiser: \nManchester Museum opens its doors for a special event aimed at people aged 50 and over on this Age Friendly Culture Monday. \nNot open to the public on Mondays\, this is a unique opportunity to enjoy the Museum galleries at a quiet time and to get closer to its collections. \nIn this event\, we are celebrating the UN International Day of Older Persons and Chung Yeung Festival\, a Chinese celebration that promotes the nation’s virtues of respecting\, caring\, and supporting the elderly. \nOn the day\, we are offering attendees the opportunity of participating in a Tea Ceremony\, Chinese Calligraphy tasters and singing for wellbeing sessions. Also\, you will find out more about Chung Yeung festival and how the Chinese community pays respect to its elders. \nSeveral ‘conversation corners’ hosted by elders from different communities will be set up and the event will finish with a performance by the Bridgewater Hall Intergenerational Choir. \nSchedule for the day: \n11:00 -11:15 arrival and welcome \n11:20-12:20 1st Tea ceremony (Cantonese / Mandarin session) (pre-booked in Eventbrite) \n11:15-12:30 calligraphy tasters\, conversation corners \n12:30-1:00 break \n1:00-1:15 singing workshop \n1:00-2:30 calligraphy tasters\, conversation corners \n1:15-2:15 2nd Tea ceremony (English session) (pre-booked in Eventbrite) \n2:30-3:00 Breath champion choir performance \n3:00 finish \nTea and coffee will be provided. \nWe recommend you to bring your packed lunches as the Museum Cafe is closed on Mondays. \nPlease note that the Museum shop will be also closed. \nThis event can be booked via Eventbrite\, by emailing maria.ramosacevedo@manchester.ac.uk (English) / or by calling 07818 578 474. \nIf you would like to use Chinese\, you can email hazel.ng@manchester.ac.uk (Chinese/ English) or by calling 07789 122 996.
