DESCRIPTION:Led by experienced dance artist Jody\, this relaxed and fun session is for anyone living with Parkinson’s and their support network. SUMMARY:Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy: free 8-week course
DESCRIPTION:Gaddum are running a free 8-week mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) course for Manchester residents.\nMBCT combines elements of mindfulness practice and cognitive behavioral therapy to help individuals develop greater awareness and acceptance of their thoughts\, emotions\, and experiences. MBCT is particularly good at preventing relapse of episodes of low mood/depression\, for those of us who are currently well or have received prior therapy. MBCT is more recently recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence for people with mild-moderate and recurrent depression\, and can also be very helpful for people who want to manage stress more effectively. \nThe course will be run by an experienced therapist and qualified Mindfulness teacher and there will be about 10-15 participants. DESCRIPTION:Text from organiser: \nManchester Museum opens its doors for a special event aimed at people aged 50 and over on this Age Friendly Culture Monday. \nNot open to the public on Mondays\, this is a unique opportunity to enjoy the Museum galleries at a quiet time and to get closer to its collections. \nIn this event\, we are celebrating the UN International Day of Older Persons and Chung Yeung Festival\, a Chinese celebration that promotes the nation’s virtues of respecting\, caring\, and supporting the elderly. \nOn the day\, we are offering attendees the opportunity of participating in a Tea Ceremony\, Chinese Calligraphy tasters and singing for wellbeing sessions. DESCRIPTION:Led by experienced dance artist Jody\, this relaxed and fun session is for anyone living with Parkinson’s and their support network. Sessions can be taken seated or standing and adapted for anybody. \nSessions will begin sitting with gentle movements focusing on mobility and body awareness. Using a wide range of music\, sessions will develop physical strength\, spacial awareness\, balance and motor skills. \nSessions are £3\, first session free. There will be refreshments provided and social time included. Partners/carers are encouraged to join. Bring water\, comfortable loose clothing and supportive shoes. \nThere is a small car park at the church\, as well as on street parking. Meet up for a lovely walk around Wythenshawe park. \nThe group meet up at the Cafe from there they set off as a group. Half way around the walk the group splits into two groups. One for those who want to do the 1 mile walk\, the other group for those who want to do a 2 or 3 mile walk. \nThe group meet back up at the cafe for a hot drink and a chat. \n  \nWe welcome all new walkers regardless of walking ability we cater for everyone!
